Calm your irritated scalp
The irritated scalp
Many people in today’s society suffer from scalp conditions. A great many of them are as a result of internal imbalances. This could be dietary, stress, emotional.
If you are one of the many who suffer particularly badly after a bath or shower, then you need to read this article to give you some insight.
The strange world we live in
If I told you to put a skin irritant on your skin every day, something that can react with other chemicals to become carcinogenic (cancer causing) and has been used as an industrial-grade cleaner and irritant, would do it?
Would you put a chemical which is used in car-washes and garages to clean up heavy grease on your skin?
Well, surprise surprise, not only are you already putting it on your skin, you are also putting it in your mouth, on your eyes, on your hands and in your bath.
I am talking about sodium lauryl sulphate and sodium laureth sulphate. Look at any shampoo, soap-type product or cosmetic in your household and you will find this ingredient in them.
I used to have people coming to me with scalp problems and despite a change in diet, lifestyle, stress levels and so on, some of them would just not get better. Upon questioning about their shampoo, they would always ASSURE me that they are using a natural, organic and “herbal” (what a misused word these days) shampoo.
Of course to my horror, almost all of these shampoos contain the above irritant as the base cleaner, as well as other token herbal additions.
Go for a truly decent shampoo to start seeing results
If you have scalp problems, I am sure you have by now done the rounds in shampoos. I am also willing to bet that your problem is more or less still there. If you find relief from shampoos like Nizoral or Coal-tar shampoos or anti-dandruff shampoos, then I am very happy for you.
However, if you find that nothing seems to be working, then I would suggest you change your shampoo to one which does not contain any sodium laureth sulphate or sodium lauryl sulphate.
This will be a very good start for you. Don’t avoid washing your hair and don’t go for some freaky organics shampoo that does not clean the hair either. You need a balance.
If all the above seems confusing, then I am going to recommend a shampoo that I have found works very well for most people. I am not sure if you can order it in your country but if you can or if you can have it shipped, then it is worth giving it a try.
The shampoo I am talking about is called Zeal and you can read more on www.noflakes.com
I (unfortunately) do not get commission from Zeal (hey guys, perhaps you can throw some shampoos for free my way ïŠ but I have to say that when something is truly good, it has to be praised. In a world full of companies trying to make money out of people’s ailments and vanity, I really believe that Zeal is something that is actually innovative and does what it says. Try it. If you can’t get hold of it, then just please make sure that you are not using a shampoo with the above 2 ingredients.
This is the “hair” section of the forum. Needless to say that sodium laureth sulphate and sodium lauryl sulphate in soaps, creams, cosmetics and so on are also not good for your skin and a major irritant. Why do companies use them, you ask? Because they are cheap and they do the job – albeit with some interesting side effects for a lot of people.
Of course there are lots of things you can use on your scalp to calm it and soothe it. We will address them later. For now, I suggest you stop putting major irritants on it daily!
