Helping rhinitis/runny/blocked nose
Rhinitis is a VERY common problem. Without wanting to get too technical, Rhinitis is a constantly runny nose!!! This can be accompanied with sneezing, blocked nose, not being able to breath and consequential infections of the sinus, usually caused as a side effect of Rhinitis or the medication given to treat it.I have seen such dramatic treatments for Rhinitis that it never ceases to amaze me how such a simple problem can be so difficult and complex to treat! Quite a few times, I have seen doctors break and re-shape people's noses to "treat" rhinitis.
It's mostly food related
I know it sounds too "simple" but most cases of Rhinitis are actually food related - as are most diseases!
It is usually the foods you love the most that cause your problems. With Rhinitis, I can almost guarantee you that 90% of it is caused by wheat and gluten products. As simple as that!
Cut out all wheat and gluten products and literally see your problem getting fixed in just days. I know that this may be a disappointment to some people who are expecting some long winded article on the complexities of Rhinitis and various treatment methods and so on… but why complicate things?
The fact is that most rhinitis cases are triggered and nurtured by excess consumption or intolerance of wheat/gluten.
If you have had rhinitis for years, then it may take a few weeks/months for the intolerance to fully go and for you to be 100%. However, you will see results within days usually.
Try no wheat and gluten and see for yourself!
Nothing like seeing results to dispel your doubts! So begin! You have to stay away from ALL wheat and gluten products. Rhinitis has a nasty habit of coming back instantly if you have even a small amount of wheat or gluten, so stick to the diet properly.
This means no bread, pasta, oats, rye or anything which has wheat or gluten in it. Read labels properly. Many foods that seemingly "should" not have wheat or gluten frequently do.
You can obviously have things like Rice Bread or Corn Pasta as they are not the traditional "wheat" products.
PLEASE stick to this properly.
Dairy products "may" be a contributory factor
The majority of cases of Rhinitis can be successfully alleviated using wheat/gluten avoidance. However, some people may find that they need to avoid dairy products, especially milk and cheese too.
It is always very difficult to stick to "avoidance diets" for long periods. This is why I would suggest you try the wheat/gluten avoidance for at least 6 weeks and see how you get on. If you find that your Rhinitis is still there (this would be surprising) then avoid all dairy products for a period of 4-6 weeks too.
Other factors which contribute to Rhinitis
You may have things around you that negatively contribute to your Rhinitis. Some of the biggest contributors are things like:
PILLOWS - Make sure your pillows contain synthetic fibres not goose or other feathers. They are breeding ground for dust mite and a big reason for Rhinitis, especially early in the morning
COLD - Try and avoid cold environments and cold air. This can be waking up in the morning in a cold room, not wearing socks in the cold or going from a hot to a cold place. The only "cold" that may help you is running your nose under cold water.
POLLUTION - It goes without saying that pollution should be avoided at all costs. Pollution is a big reason for Rhinitis.
IRRITANTS - Certain smells/environments are specific to some people. Perfumes, flowers etc. Though they may act as a trigger, they are not really the cause of Rhinitis.
HAY FEVER - This happens in the summer for most people. Nelsons have a nice remedy in a blue bottle which is pretty effective for Rhinitis and Hay Fever. Try it. You take 4 pills every few hours until symptoms get less.
If you have Rhinitis, you MUST try and eliminate it as soon as possible. As well as the annoyance of it, Rhinitis also affects your mood and stress levels without you knowing it. Because you cannot breathe through your nose, you WILL be more stressed, so Rhinitis has a massive overall effect on your health.
